Oct. 19, 2017 - At our Basic Oxygen Steel plant in Port Talbot, a simple switch was made leading to savings of £300,000 a year.
Water is used for dedusting during vessel blows, but scaling can build up in the system.
We found the C02 which was previously being used to reduce the scaling could no longer support it and sought out an alternative – a chemical descaler, known as 5200m.91R. It worked fantastically, increasing the simplicity and ease of the cleaning process and realising considerable savings.
Now we are keen to continue to explore further phases of the project.
